The Newcastle Museum and Library approached us with the desire to create a new branch in the form of an adapting and reusing the Broadmeadow Locomotive Depot, providing a community engaging environment with a response to Newcastle's drive to sustainability. The site and the surviving building is powerful in its dedication and significance to Newcastle's railway history, which needs to be repescted and honoured. The project's concept was to show the site's past, present and future. The existing Roundhouse 2 is the fixed point in time, where it is left to tell its own story. Roundhouse 1 is to show a dilapidated future, where if the building was left unmaintained and taken by Wildlife.
