Drought in regional and rural NSW brings profound hardship. Rendering communities vulnerable to extreme emotional trauma and leaving them defenseless in the face of stock losses, crop failures and financial stress. The increased frequency of these extreme weather events gave cause to this project, a drought resilience facility sited in Dubbo NSW. With caring for the Country at its core, the project aims to sustain the community experiencing hardship through the key principles of education, support and healing. Challenging the agency of architecture to bring people together to create networks and share knowledge that in turn improves the health of both people and environment into the future.
