Turntables : Broadmeadow

2023

This project playfully pays respect to the historical use of the site which was once a vibrant twin turntable and roundhouse yard for the repair of steam locomotives. The new proposal is built around the concept of connectedness, openness, and flexibility, where the site is largely open and accessible. The new proposal houses alarge scale museum, a library, a restaurant, a permaculture hub, and several specialised areas for both children and adults including the interactive sciences exhibitions, and large technologies. The key driver for the concept comes from the flexibility and fine detailingof the joinery, which is highly interactive, some of which rolls on the old train lines and engages with the functioning turntables.
