Re-Growth began as a response to a Nuclear War catastrophe as a space for refugees that would flee to Australia. Utilising mushrooms to capture radiation and provide food when other resources could no longer be grown due to the Nuclear Winter. This space evolved into a Mycoremediation operation focused on the coal storage yards within Newcastle harbor. Providing a natural and profitable way to remediate coal contaminated soils, utilise waste materials, and create sustainable products that could replace coal as our central economy system. The structure is constructed entirely from the grown Mycelium roots that are harvested alongside the mushrooms. The Mycelium is then compacted and 3D printed into structural and interior forms.
