The site for Watering Hole is a parcel of land adjacent the historic Middle Camp residential area, that is part of the Catherine Hill Bay Cultural Precinct. The Precinct is listed as State Heritage, being one of the oldest continuous European settlements in the Lake Macquarie area with a significant coal mining history and related infrastructures in place. In the design, through looking forwards and looking back, Combining the past historical heritage of Catherine Hill Bay with future development to create an iconic venue.
