Our project in the middle of the Central Australia (Mt.Leibig) emerges as a transformative solution to inevitable conditions of indigenous housing. Considering the living standards of the community, our aim was to refurbish the existing case study house. By offering important structural enhancements such as external wall insulation, improved roofing, and verandas we aimed to provide respite from the extreme climatic conditions of that region. Moreover, to address the communal aspect, we integrated light decks, proposed spaces for outdoor social interactions which was nurtured by an outdoor kitchen designed for collective cleaning and cooking. Since energy conservation was a critical parameter, we focused on repairing energy-efficient components and introducing passive cooling methods like wind catchers from Iranian architecture. Through this sustainable approach we tried to make a meaningful combination between tradition and modernity.
